5. What is the procedure for acquiring the total hour pins that Bell Helicopter distributes as part of its flight safety awareness program?
Answer: Currently, Bell Helicopter only provides certificates for these awards. Unfortunately, the pins are no longer available.
However, the Bell Pilot Safety Award is still in place for the total time of accident-free flying in Bells (e.g. military models, civil models, and military surplus that are flying in civil environment). The request should include all of those accident-free hours flown in Bell aircraft. The instructions to make the request are in the Flight Safety website.
NOTE: Bell's department of Flight Safety, in coordination with the department for Army Business Development, currently manages our process and certification for those civilians and military servicemen eligible for these awards, typically given at the 1000 flight hour intervals.
